cocktails made

white rum, lime, sugar. £7.50/ £8.50

Available as a classic blend, or in one of our Barrio Chorlton flavours including mango, passionfruit, coconut or strawberry.
The classic version of the Daiquiri is truly decadent and hard to beat. Originating from Cuba, it’s believed that the Daiquiri was accidentally invented by an American engineer who had run out of gin at a cocktail party and used rum as a substitute. This mix of rum, lime and a dash of sugar is simply shaken then strained into your glass ready to be enjoyed! The Daiquiri has attracted the most sophisticated of cocktail lovers over the years, including JFK and Hemingway, but remains just as popular in 2021.

If you prefer your Daiquiri with more of a fruity sensation, then our bartenders can add one of our popular flavours to tempt your tastebuds. You’ll absolutely love one of our Daiquiris when the temperatures hot up – be sure to head to our secret garden Chorlton to enjoy yours.

Top tips: Fish goes beautifully with a daiquiri cocktail, so why not order one of our salmon plates for the perfect pairing?

blanco tequila, triple sec, lime, sugar. £8

Our delicious Margarita cocktail is made with the purest form of tequila to create a perfect mix with triple sec, lime and sugar. As a Mexican staple, this is one of the most popular cocktails to drink in restaurants and bars alike. For the perfect finishing touch, you can expect your glass to be rimmed with salt and garnished with a lime slice to complement the strong note of the tequila.

Margaritas are believed to date back to the 1940s when a Tijuana bartender created a drink with tequila that resembled an American cocktail known as the Daisy, which was made with brandy.

Top tips: Avoid drinking a Margarita with a straw so you can make the most of the salt around the rim of your glass.

cachaca, lime, demerara sugar. £9.50

Our caipirinha cocktail is an invigorating drink that works well in summer with the sun on your back as you spend time in our secret garden Chorlton venue. The key ingredient to this mix is cachaca which is a form of Brazilian white rum made from sugar cane. The spirit of Brazil is perfectly encapsulated in this fun and vibrant cocktail, which is simply divine when served with wedges of lime.

Although cachaca has been around since the 1500s, the caipirinha didn’t make an appearance until the early 20th century when it was used as a way to ease the symptoms of the Spanish Flu epidemic.

Top tips: Crushed ice will allow you to enjoy this drink for a little longer, but whole ice cubes are used traditionally and will make your cocktail look more authentic.

white rum, mint, lime, sugar, soda. £7.50 / £8.50

Available as a classic blend, or in one of our Barrio Chorlton flavours including mango, passionfruit, coconut or strawberry.
The mojito is one of the most recognisable cocktails you’ll find on a cocktail menu, featuring a sumptuous mix of white rum, and lime. The inclusion of mint gives the mojito its kick, which when served over ice in a highball glass is simply breath-taking.
Our bar Chorlton team love experimenting with different flavours, and our mango, passionfruit, coconut and strawberry alternatives are extremely popular with customers.
This classic cocktail dates back to the 1500s when Sir Francis Drake landed in Havana, Cuba in search of gold. His crew were given a mixture of aguarediente de cana, mint leaves, and the juices from sugar cane and limes as a remedy for diseases such as scurvy and dissentary. This drink evolved into the creation of the Bacardi company in the mid-1800s which is still going strong today.

Top tips: Mojitos are enjoyed best when served with a variety of Latin American finger food. Think quesadillas, tacos or anything from our Light Bites menu.

coconut rum, pineapple, Barrio coconut puree, lime. £9.50

Piña Colada

Do you like Piña Colada? If you’re unsure, that’s because you haven’t tried ours yet! Head to Barrio Chorlton to try our mouth-watering cocktail which is the perfect combination of coconut rum mixed with pineapple, lime and our house coconut puree. Garnished with pineapple slices, you’ll feel like you’re on a tropical island when you sip this treat.
The name Piña Colada actually means ‘strained pineapple’ in Spanish. The drink’s origins go back to Puerto Rico when a local pirate would give his crew a mix of coconut, white rum and pineapple to lift their spirits during a voyage. And the drink still has the ability to instantly put you in a great mood whether you’re enjoying with friends or sharing with a date.
Top tips: The coconut flavours of Piña Colada mix perfectly with chicken-based dishes. At Barrio Chorlton we offer a variety of shared plates and light bites including sticky hot oven-baked chicken wings, Peruvian roasted chicken and chicken tacos.

vanilla vodka, passion fruit liqueur, pineapple, Barrio porn syrup, Prosecco shot. £9

Estrella Porno

If you’re looking for a little bit of fizz in your cocktail, then the Estrella Porno is irresistible and absolutely bursting with flavours. By mixing vanilla vodka with the exotic tones of passion fruit and pineapple, you’re left with a super sweet concoction which packs a punch. The cocktail is finished off with a shot of the finest Prosecco to give your drink its spritz.
Top tips: The citrus flavours of this cocktail make it the perfect beverage to drink alongside your favourite dessert. So, why not treat yourself and order both?

mezcal, lime, ginger beer, bitters. £8.50

Mezcal Mule

You may have heard of the Moscow Mule before, and the Mezcal Mule is a spin-off of this classic cocktail. Where the original cocktail featured vodka, lime and ginger beer, which was drunk out of a copper mug, the Mezcal Mule replaces the vodka with the smoky flavours of Mezcal. This is a distilled alcoholic beverage made from oven-baked agave plant and provides more depth to the cocktail than the vodka in the Moscow variation.

Choose a Mezcal Mule and you’ll enjoy the balance of smoky mezcal, sweet lime and the sourness of ginger beer and bitters.

Top tips: If you’re looking for an extra punch in your palate, you’ll find it pairs well with spicy food.

vanilla vodka, coffee liqueur, Ancoats espresso, vanilla syrup. £9

Barrio Café Martini

Can’t choose between coffee and a cocktail? There’s no need to decide. With coffee being the most popular drink in many parts of the world, it’s only natural that cocktail lovers want to fuse their favourite beverage together with alcohol. The bitterness of coffee is perfectly counteracted by the sweetness of the cocktail, whilst the stimulating effect of caffeine can also help to balance out the impact of alcohol.

Our Barrio Café Martini is mixed by our in-house bartenders to create a sophisticated, edgy drink that will give you a much-needed pick-me-up on a Friday night. For the caffeine we mix coffee liqueur with a shot of Ancoats espresso, then blend both with vanilla vodka and vanilla syrup to add the sweetness.

Top tips: If you’re planning to dine with us at Barrio Chorlton, save your Barrio Café Martini for after your food. It’s makes a great after dinner drink and can even double as dessert if you like.

gin, sweet Vermouth, Ancoats coffee infused Campari, orange oil. £9.50

Cold Infusion Negroni

Campari is an Italian spirit that has recently skyrocketed in popularity and has created a renewed interest in the vintage Negroni cocktail. The classic recipe uses gin, Vermouth and Campari in equal parts, which is stirred and not shaken in an old fashioned or rocks glass. Our own Barrio version is similar but incorporates orange oil as a sublime surprise, and a nod to the traditional Negroni being garnished with a piece of orange in Italy, or a slice outside of the country.

Top tips: Enjoy your Cold Infusion Negroni as an aperitif here at Barrio Chorlton.

blanco tequila, tomato juice, lime, Chef Cam’s Habanero chilli sauce, Hendersons, salt, pepper. £9.50

Bloody Maria

Not to be confused with the vodka-based Bloody Mary, the Bloody Maria is a delectable creation which switches out the vodka for blanco tequila which really stands out in this spicy drink. If you love tomato-based cocktails, then trust us, the Bloody Maria is for you! With kicking ingredients including chilli sauce and relish, accompanied by salt and pepper for extra seasoning, your taste buds will spring into action. Let our bartenders know if you like your Bloody Maria super-hot and we’ll add even more spice for you.

Top tips: A light salad pairs well with a Bloody Maria – check out our house special, the Barrio Super Salad which is packed full of superfood veggies. Add goats cheese, steak, salmon or tofu as optional extras.
